Taking 30 minutes of your time now to prepare an inventory list for insurance will save you from trying to recreate one from memory. Using your smartphone, take pictures of valuables and other important things you would want to claim in case of a fire, flooding, or other disaster. You know they will ask you to categorize if you do need to make a claim, so make it so you can easily and quickly send to them. Remember, the easier you make it for them, the faster you will get back to normal.
If you don’t know where your insurance policy is, find it. If you can’t call and ask for a copy and put it in a zip lock bag and file, it somewhere you will easily find it.
